Success! (mostly)
Jun. 23rd, 2011 08:30 amI did it! I rode my bike to work today. It took about 30 minutes door-to-door, which isn't too bad -- I think I went a bit faster than our test ride over the weekend. (Driving my car takes about 15 minutes door-to-door, what with stoplights and parking, so the time differential isn't too awful either.) It's an easy enough ride that I didn't arrive all drenched with sweat, but it took enough effort that I feel a little bit righteous now. It'll be warmer for the ride home, but I don't have to worry so much about being all red in the face when I arrive.
We also rode our bikes to and from TKD class last night, so that was a pretty awesome block of time in which we were putting out meaningful cardo effort. Go, us! I'm still pudgier than I wanna be, but I feel like my level of effort and activity is getting healthier all the time.
Of course, I was so preoccupied with timing this morning that I forgot to eat breakfast and failed to bring along my security badge and desk keys. Having to call
diermuid to please deliver those sort of undermined the fuel-efficiency mojo of the whole effort, but I like to think I'll get better at the logistics of it all.
