Made it through my LASIK just fine this morning, with many thanks to the excellent folks at Durrie who know what they're doing likewhoa. And not just in technical terms; they really had those comforting/guiding nonverbal touchpoints DOWN.

So I'm taking it easy now, with all the curtains closed and some quiet while the menfolk are off helping a fellow Scout with his Eagle project. Rewetting drops every 15-30 minutes and an aggressive schedule of other medicated eyedrops for the next several days. Discomfort is very mild so far, though I reported a definite difference in my right and left eye for the clinical trial I'm participating in. (No way could I have afforded the surgery myself!)

My 24-hour visit is tomorrow morning, and my vision has already improved to the point where it seems just a bit hazy...sort of like I'm wearing an older prescription or have smudges on my glasses. Here I am, watching television from the couch with my naked eyes. JUMP. BACK.

ETA: About ten hours later, and my vision is very much as if I were wearing my contact lenses on a high-allergy day -- mostly clear but with a bit of goopiness -- if that makes any sense. And that's pretty much how it feels. Not a lot of irritation anymore, though there's still relief when I use the chilled eyedrops. Kind of hating the medicated eyedrops (both the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory ones), because they sting and leave a weird taste at the back of my throat. Very much looking forward to sleep tonight.
