The pink bird of happiness
Dec. 8th, 2012 02:59 pmHaving a happy holidays kind of day today. But first, a photo!

This is the "pink bird of happiness," an ornament that made its way from my folks' house to mine this summer. It's not a very fancy ornament, and definitely not in the best condition (having survived at least 11 moves), but it brings back lots of good memories to see it on my own tree now.
I think I've crossed over in some way, because I'm drinking another cup of coffee and blogging while I supervise kids mixing up our final batch of cocoa mix (for now) and making chocolate-covered pretzels. It's very odd not to be doing all the work myself, but I'm crazy grateful that they're all old enough (and good enough at following directions) that it's finally not *harder* to let them help. EFF YEAH.
For the cookie "baskets" this year, I think we'll make just four varieties of treats. Maybe five if I lose my mind:
With 6-10 of each variety, that's something in the range of 30 cookies for each basket, which is probably a good amount, don't you think? I'll try to take some mediocre photos to share. :)

For the cookie "baskets" this year, I think we'll make just four varieties of treats. Maybe five if I lose my mind:
- chocolate-covered pretzels with sprinkles
- peanut butter cupcakes with Hershey's kisses on top
- hazelnut sandwich cookies (made with sugar coookie dough)
- gingersnap things?
- some sort of colorful jam-filled or jam-topped cookie -- either pinwheels (made with pastry dough), which are yummy but labor-intensive, or maybe thumbprint sugar cookies
With 6-10 of each variety, that's something in the range of 30 cookies for each basket, which is probably a good amount, don't you think? I'll try to take some mediocre photos to share. :)
