ease on the horizon
May. 14th, 2012 04:44 pmOne week from today, many things will be much simpler.
I was able to indulge in a lot of gardening* and housekeeping, which was a comfort on its own but also helped me get a jump on preparing for company this coming weekend. I won't clean the stove or anything, but it sets me up to enjoy graduation festivities a little more if things are Mostly Clean. Between now and Saturday, I think just daily chores and a quick mowing of the lawn will do.
Final soccer games are completed and final band/vocal concerts will be done over the next few nights. Now I need to square my shoulders to prepping for the After-Graduation Gathering we'll have at the house. We're serving "tiny food" -- little quiches and other assorted niblets. There are enough folks coming who are diabetic (Dad) or paleo that I feel I need some ideas for options. Suggestions? Having choices for everyone is important, yo.
Not going to get real fancy, but I might put up a few decorations or (merciful heavens) BALLOONS. Have to make a PLAN. Going to wait until Friday to manifest most of the Saturday things, because I'll have the day off work and Nonny & Poppy want to help. Not gonna turn that down, if yannowhatimean.
On Sunday, we mostly slack. The doggies have vet appointments, and Bree has her first obedience class, which should be a laugh riot because I've heard there's a Saint Bernard puppy in there too. Monday I am OFF WORK. Mom and Dad leave early in the morning, so I'll have a good half-day to wander around the house and babble at things before other kids get home from their last day of school. And Tuesday I run back to work, because they'll all be HOME.
Days after that, the younger girls go with
agrnmn and three other kids start their camping season. Two of them will be gone almost all summer. And then,
princessboredom will be BORED for approximately TWO MONTHS until it's time to go to Florida for orientation. YAY.
*I'll make a separate post soon about my wee brambly berry bushes.

Date: 2012-05-15 11:35 pm (UTC)Sticky wings would work too--buy a big bag of frozen wings from Sams. Put them on a baking sheet (still frozen). Drizzle with soy sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, hickory salt, and cayenne pepper. Bake the shit out of them at 425, turning after 30-45 mins. Being frozen they'll give off a lot of water, but then that and the soy will bake down into a sticky glaze.
