me and my first-world problems

I didn't realize how important cup holders were (in a car) until I didn't have any. German automakers back in 1999 -- when my Dagmar was made -- were (apparently) scornful of the need to consume beverages while driving. There was one flimsy little pull-out thingie in the back that was broken when I got the car, and one flimsy little pull-out thingie in the front that broke this morning. The em-effer didn't hold anything larger than a Happy Meal-sized cup, but still. BROKEN.

I'd happily purchase VW Passat wagons for the rest of my driving life, but I sure hope the next one I get will let me have a cup of (decaf) coffee, because REALLY. How I suffer.

I actually feel your pain on this one--for a few years I drove a 1990 Honda Civic (little bitty hatchback; it was kinda hilarious to see me scooting around in a car the size of my purse), and it didn't have cupholders. I ended up resorting to a strange sort of "cup nest" in the passenger seat, made of an old scarf. lol
