a quirky, happy thing
Apr. 9th, 2009 12:45 pmToday, I am finding sunshine in unexpected places, thank all the little gods.
Frexampul:
beatonna, a namesake. Also, a Candadian and creator of clever historical webcomics, who has a very adorable way of using exclamation points.
My father's family came to New England by way of Nova Scotia (where his French relatives experienced [a friendliness] with the Huron Indians, probably because both cultures were badass -- or bastardly, depending on your perspective -- and then they all [got along well with] the Scots), so I have a little fantasy world in which I am related to this person named Kate. How's that for an awkward sentence?

Date: 2009-04-09 06:00 pm (UTC)We went to Nova Scotia once, when I was about six. I don't remember much about it, except that we tromped through a lot of cemetaries. My brother and I earned a nickel for every gravestone we found with the name "Beaton" engraved upon it.

Date: 2009-04-09 06:10 pm (UTC)As the (alleged) novel I am (allegedly) working on is partly set in Scotland in 1746 (Jacobite Rebellion), you have inspired me to continue with it.
Perhaps I can work a "Kate" into it.
I was not totally happy with my first choice "Peig"
