Kira Deara was finishing her breakfast (Fiona Pie had already eaten and moved on, swift morning kid that she is) and I said, "Hey, honey. Do you know you're awesome?"

I was amused to notice she's developed the skill of arching one eyebrow. "Yes," she replied. "I know."

"That is pretty cool, sweetie. There's a lot of people out there who don't know how awesome they are. Why do you think that is?"

"Because nobody tells them," she answered, without missing a beat. "You tell me, like, every day. So I just know it."

So there you go, folks. I'm going to make it a point now, to tell people when I think they're awesome, just to be sure they know. :)

In other news, I'm feeling a little bit queasy today -- as if I were mildly carsick -- and my ear hurts a whole lot. Need to monitor that. (UPDATE: Appointment with doctor scheduled for 5:15 p.m. today, so I can either be reassured that nothing is wrong or receive some sort of assistance with the symptoms. Also, I think this is an excellent time to eat a lot of hot & sour soup wif da crunchiez.)

I've got a couple of candidates for the new position here at work coming in for second interviews/evaluation, which is a nice bit of progress. They'll be demonstrating some market-specific skills; more than that, they'll be showing me how well they can function without micromanagement. I am hiring for a relatively senior position...so this person needs to be able to ask follow-up questions and develop things without me having to give them the step-by-step instructions. There's a certain learning curve I'm responsible for helping somebody navigate, but I just can't hire somebody that *requires* that kind of hands-on management. It's not my style and I don't have the time for it. We'll see how that goes. (fingers crossed)

If your ear hurts and you're feeling queasy, you could have an inner-ear infection that's giving you mild vertigo. You might think about going to the doctor for some antibiotics if it doesn't resolve itself today.

And, you're awesome. :)

That's a good point -- I'd wondered about it. If it *is* an ear infection, then I sure don't want to head into the weekend without help for it.

You're awesome, too. :)
