Ack. Overthinking.
Jun. 6th, 2008 02:41 pmToday at work, a creative brief came to my desk. I saw that it was HOT, checked the date due, and wondered if I could assign it to somebody or if I'd have to do it. Then I actually *read* the darn thing.
Um, no. I can't pass it to anybody else, because it's a request for a font created from MY handwriting! Strangely flattering...and also a very interesting process.
They've given me a couple of pages of stuff to write on plain white paper (which is disconcerting, because I hate it when everything goes all crookedy) -- letter combinations, numbers, and the works.
So now I'm overthinking. Or over-writing. Because I keep making mistakes and I kind of hate my writing today. And, see, my writing is a little bit different at different points in the day, and from day to day, depending on what kind of pen I'm using and how fast I'm going and whether I've been swordfighting. Is this the handwriting they want? How about this?
Jeepers. And now my whole right arm is THROBBING.

Date: 2008-06-06 07:55 pm (UTC)It's funny how my handwriting has this mystical power to amaze people. My mother thinks it's atrocious.
Edit: I hate to disappoint you, but my knee-jerk compulsion to WHAP people has decreased significantly. Goofy, friendly, tolerant moments are much more common these days.

Date: 2008-06-06 08:19 pm (UTC)It doesn't help my handwriting one little bit, that I can't sit still -- so very excited about weekend stuff!
I get to buy and transport a half-ton of concrete, ride my bike to get groceries, and crank out some good-paying freelance work (among other things which I'd rather not share with LJ and the Great Big World).
