saffronhare: (Whose Woods These Are)

When that cold front whipped through at about 1:30 a.m., the gusts sounded pretty impressive. They were so loud that I didn't even hear the big branch come off the star maple tree in the front yard, then twist and launch itself at my bedroom window, only to be stopped a few feet from my head by the heroic efforts of my beloved jasmine tree.

That poor little tree, which inexplicably thrives and blooms in Kansas, is not going to survive to bloom again this spring. It's the tree where I leave all my household offerings, and was the home to many bits and baubles left for the sidhe and other spirits.

I am sad, but very grateful not to have that star maple branch inside my brain.

It was pretty scary to see it in the daylight as I left for work. I was still groggy (and it was still dark) when I initially moved it out of the way so I could go pick up the girls from [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn's place.

That big old branch was really aimed right at my head. Yow. Thank goodness el Mundo malo stayed on the other side of the veil this time.

Yes, very glad it saved you from the big nasty branch...that would have been profoundly no gouda.
