Lots going on for [livejournal.com profile] princessboredom this week. She measured out at 5'6.5" at her checkup a few days ago, and looks to still have at least a couple more inches of height in her. Wowzers.

But before I say any more: Happy Birthday, sweetie! You're really growing into an amazing and fabulous person to be around. I love you very much. (hugs)

We got the news yesterday (delivered to her this morning with a ribbon on it, literally) that she's been accepted into a two-week summer academy course on Bioethics. She's been the propulsion behind the whole thing -- taking the early ACT, choosing the course, filling out the application on her own. It should be a pretty awesome experience...even if I have to put her on a plane to someplace she's never been before and somehow not freak out about that. :) (EDIT: I'm not trying to be cryptic, but this is a public post and I'd rather not share specifics about where she'll be and when.)

And now, (cue doomy-doom music) she's got a cell phone. I managed to plant it on her nightstand in the wee hours, and we called to wake her up this morning. There will no doubt be hitches along the way, since this is a new level of responsibility, but we'll hope for the best. The phones -- one for her and one for [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn -- just make sense with there being more things we're all doing separately and my desire to make sure the girls (and I) can reach their dad if there's an emergency. We'll make sure she's got family and honorary family numbers programmed in very soon. It's one of those things I thought I'd never do...and here I am, giving a cell phone to a teenager. Will wonders never cease. :)

To her credit, Princess PrettySchool has known about the phone since Monday. And she kept the sekrit the whole friggin' time.

I'm impressed all-around too. When I lamented to my mother how worried I am -- and goggled at how calm Ro was about the prospect -- mom reminded me that SHE had put me on a bus to travel from central Germany to London for nearly three weeks when I was only ten years old. So I should totally get over myself. Ha. :)

And I really love that icon. Makes me wanna line dance so bad.

The Girl says: Ah the big 13 lol, Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] princessboredom, so friggin' proud of you for the bioethics thing, I totally need your cell number to add into mine with I get the new one, and of course, you MUST give me all the wonderful details of your birthday and the summer program, and just really everything in general. Anyways, moving on, love ya chick, happy birthday! And the Girl is finally out of breath. Please tell your lovely (tall) daughter happy birthday from me as well.
