On my altar, there's a little ceramic container thingie that [livejournal.com profile] princessboredom made and gave me a couple of years past. It's the cutest little puppy -- I use it as my offering bowl for Aengus. He seems to like it. :)

Anyway, Kira was fiddling around with it as I was waking up. It was a distinctive sound, so I didn't look over. I just mumbled, "That's not yours, Kira, leave it alone." Her response? "I KNOW, Mommy. This is just two leaves that I want to make sure the Goddess gets." (the Capitalization was pretty clear from the way she said it)

Well, huh. Okay.

For the record, when I ask her about "the goddess," she still speaks of "the grey lady." We think it's probably Athena, considering The Pendant Incident a year or two ago (I think [livejournal.com profile] zylch remembers too). Saints preserve us.

wouldn't that be grey eyed lady? i think grey lady refers to something a bit more mesopotamian... which means your daughter is into things with tentacles, and you should plan to send her to miskatonic u when she's older.

i don't know, i'm being silly.

Yes, "grey-eyed lady" would be proper. However, she was about two years old when she described the "grey lady" giving her a pendant a friend had buried in the yard at some point. I'd have to allow some leeway for vocab deficiency there, since it was an Athena pendant. :) ([livejournal.com profile] zylch relates the scenario much more amusingly than I can)

Still. Knowing the child, being into things Mesopotamian and/or things with tentacles wouldn't be all that surprising. Thank the gods she's got [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale for an auntie. I swear Kira is really her brain-child. But that sort of commentary could get me flogged, and not in a happy way, so I'll leave it at that.

Glad to see you're still around, Pete. Hope the New Year treats you well. (smile)

Oh, I remember it alright. Alas, I can't find the relevant LJ entry if there is one. I'm thinking it must've been sometime between April 2004 and April 2005, but I can't pin the season down further.

Then again, with one Hellenista for a godmother and another one as a retired house monster, what did you expect? Not even the saints can help you now! Mwah ha ha :-D
