So. Yesterday, when I got all braggadocious about not having nearly so many migraines this year? ::sigh:: I was awakened at 3 a.m. with a real doozy. And, for extra fun, the combination of biofeedback and vascular voodoo from my intervention meds might mean that I'm Awake For The Day.

Ho-hum. Bored now. At least I got to wander upstairs to kick the still-awake butts of Princess Böredom and La Greca. (Note to [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar and [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn: They didn't keep me awake. I doubt I would have heard them at all, if not for the fact that I was shuffling around the house at the time. No need for wrathful action on my behalf there. Also note the verrah clevair use of umlauts.)

Hard to say what triggered this episode. I've mostly been doing what I'm supposed to do to prevent migraines. It's a bit past time for a chiropractic adjustment, and it's been awhile since my last massage. Yesterday was pretty darn hot for walk/run and boffers, but I kept myself well hydrated. Eating yesterday wasn't 100% righteous, but it was far from indulgent. Probably a case of "all of the above," each in its small portion.

Gonna go see if I can meditate myself into some rest now, if not actual sleep, since pain seems to have subsided such that I might be able to put my head down. No way am I going to go scrub the tub at 4:30 a.m., so my brain can just stop that train of thought this very second. Also, no toaster strudel = teh sad.

Have you ever gotten migraines with weather changes? My old boss at MRI used to get them All the Time from big weather shifts; he could almost predict the weather better than Gary Lezak. Since we just went through a big shift, that could be part of the problem.

It's very possible that extreme changes in barometric pressure could be one of the triggers. I haven't specifically tracked that...the vast majority of them can pretty easily be connected to other factors, though. I'll keep an eye on it. My shoulder, however -- *that* predicts the weather. :)

Dunno, but I got up this morning with flickering twitches in the corners of my eyes, which may or may not be going away now...D. could be onto something.

It could be a contributing factor. But I've dealt with migraines since I was about 10 years old, and it's unlikely that a brand-new primary trigger would be surfacing after all these years. That said, I'll keep an eye on it, because knowledge is still power. :)

I know that barometric pressure changes are a major trigger for my pain levels, followed closely by not doing my exercises and staying limber.
It probably isn't a major trigger for you I would guess. This was just a major pressure shift, so it could be a minor one that just wanted to make its presence known.
Hope you are feeling better now, though. My knees are busy informing me that they are Not Happy. I will spend a good portion of my day trying to stay seated. Since I have to prepare overheads for 2 presentations next week, this shouldn't be too difficult.

Yeah, that makes sense with the sort of pain you have. My "bigger triggers" have a lot more to do with stress, tension, and diet. Exercise plays into it mostly for general functioning of my body as a machine and not a storehouse for toxic levels of stress.

Sorry, hon. Glad my kid wasn't the culprit. And how 'bout this: La Grëca. It's the sort of morning where an e-umlaut if effing hilarious. What time would you good people like to divest yourself of my daughter?

Why don't you get in touch with [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn by phone at some point later this morning? I really can't speak for his schedule or expectations, but I do know he remembers your date with the Capades this evening. :)

If they were up until 4:30, I imagine they won't be early risers unless the Littlest Princesses have something to say about it. Why don't you give us a buzz when they're functional, seeing as how we have no idea when that might be. Hehe.

And lo there were pre teens! They awoke an hour ago and now are down and dressed no less. I need to do a few errands, I can leave them behind if you want to pick her up in the next 2 hours or so. Rowan will be fine alone. Or later this afternoon is cool too.

Either would be fine. Might having the two of them there while you're gone provide better babysitting coverage? Feel free to indenture her somehow in exchange for breakfast.
