TOTAL FOOTPRINT 11
IN COMPARISON, THE AVERAGE ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT IN YOUR COUNTRY IS 24 ACRES PER PERSON. WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON. IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 2.6 PLANETS.
That's it. We're selling the wagon and getting a motorbike. And bicycles for everyone!
Plus:
We're trying to move away from pre-packaged foods by planning meals better and such. In addition, our trash production still impressively low for a household with a diapered kid.
Minus:
Producing children is the single-most damaging thing an ordinary person can do to the environment, last time I checked. We're pretty screwed there. But gas mileage really sucks on a minivan (even considering that 5 people ride in it at a time...).
This is an interesting thing leading into tonight, where Science Thursday will concentrate on math (meaning we're working on actually developing a household budget, instead of simply trying to keep track of expenditures).
Wish us luck.
