Probably of interest to KC-area locals only...
Gaia Community, Sunday, 8/14 @ 4 p.m. -- Dog Days
Though scientists have disagreed for centuries about exactly when the
Dog Days begin and end, it's clear that these 40 days (give or take)
in which the Dog Star takes center stage in sky are the hottest of the
year. It's also a time when the stories of the heavens play out in
our own hearts — the world around us is being put to the torch and we
feel burned out. Rather than ignore it or drive on despite them,
we're dedicating ritual today to honoring those feelings and offering
some time for replenishment and balance.
It's important to note that our older kids are perfectly welcome to
join us for this ritual, though they should be prepared for a
meditative and introspective afternoon (though there won't be a formal
trance). The theme isn't specifically "kid-friendly," but some of them
may really be ready for it. Your mileage may vary. :)
Please also know that some (but not all) of the ritual will be in the
Barn Chapel, where you will be encouraged to sweat a bit and exist in
peace with heat -- even invite a bit of it (gasp!). There's a method
to our madness...and we'll have water to keep you hydrated.
See you there!
