Because I'm an effing genius, that's why.
Oct. 28th, 2004 03:01 pmThis compassionate pirate, executive oracle and writer for hire is ready to take on some freelancing work! Why? Because the girls beginning to sleep through the night [more often] gives me a renewed sense that there are possibilities for productivity beyond sleep deprivation. Because I'm aching for a bit more room to breathe creatively but can't really leave my day job yet. But mostly because I'm very, very good at it and wish to take over the world.
Feel free to start pimping me as a freelance writer whenever you have the chance. (I don't expect any of you to give me direct leads, but you never know what the universe will turn out of its pockets if you speak out loud what you're after.) Just drop me an email at saffronhare@livejournal.com and I'll get in touch in a more appropriate, real-life manner.
I consider myself competent at media writing, grantwriting, direct mail strategy and copywriting as well as editing. I suck at fiction, though I'm a kick-ass proofreader. I adore working with the arts and liberal causes in general, though my ethics are situational and usually not what folks would expect.
EDIT
I am willing to work with clients who aren't in the KC Metro area, as long as they're okay with electronic communication -- I don't have a fax machine.
With a soft spot for brown dogs and other good causes, [n] has made a living working as a fundraiser/communicator for nonprofit organizations. [N] is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), with a BA in Political Science from the University of Kansas and an MS in Nonprofit Public Relations from Boston University. She claims her business card should read “Compassionate Pirate and Executive Oracle.”
A passionately aggressive and compulsively organized person, [her] creativity is best put to use in giving form to dreams. She has a charming husband with great legs; a menacingly competent housemate; two dogs, three daughters and not enough free time.
