I've been wanting to do some divination again lately -- tarot, ogham, whatever. But it's been so long and I feel really...I don't know, cobwebby about it. Like I don't remember how to speak the language anymore. I've drifted pretty far from that shore lately, and feel the pull again. Awkward, but kind of sweet and inevitable at the same time, you know? Maybe it'll be a lot like dancing.

About 4 months ago, I got a set of runes made from local river stones, and those are what I am using these days. Not a daily thing, but whenever I feel a need to ruminate or to redirect my focus away from thoughts that are both non-productive and potentially very toxic.

It does seem to help, so I think I understand that 'pull' you mentioned.

Divination is so weird. I've been doing that monthly tarot thing as a part of my 101 Things in 1001 Days list, oh, for about two years now. I'm no closer to tarot's being more natural and instinctive than when I began. Which is not to say it isn't helpful; it's just that I am well and truly not wired for picture symbols. Or pants.

Anyway, yay! I'd start with entrails if I were you.

Like any language, you've got to practice speaking it, but you can pick it back up more quickly than you first learned it, obviously.

I still read! I also still retain about 10% of what I read on LJ, but that is like 80 times more than I retain on Facebook, so I guess that is something :)
