Much progress experienced.
Jul. 24th, 2004 07:51 pmWe've really turned a corner in the last few days. Suddenly, it seems like a lot is getting done. Yay.
1. We finished cleaning the wallpaper paste off all the downstairs hallway walls and the stairway walls. All the downstairs walls have been patched and primed. Some spots need another coat of primer, but they're just about ready to paint.
2. My ever-lovin'
3. There is no more black abomination on the floor in the downstairs hallway. My hands are a mess, but it's gone. And so is the other assorted crap that used to live there. We've removed doors and everything, so it's a real functioning hallway now.
4. Today, I started putting clearcoat on the dining room walls and shelves (to protect the glazing and to make it washable). The whole thing will need two coats and needs four hours to dry between coats, so that could take a very long and stinky while.
5. Next, we begin attacking the trim in the dining room and the hallway areas. Lots of sanding to be done before we can put the trim color on...which means I may have to touch a tack cloth. ick.
Sometime between now and Labor Day, we hope to start getting estimates on foundation work. Inside the house, we'll need to develop a plan for dealing with downstairs bathroom work. With painting done, we can take up the carpet on the stairway. And it may be time to begin digging down to the master bedroom floor (which holds the treat of an entirely different black abomination).
With any luck, that will give me the winter to refinish a lot of furniture and
I'm unspeakably happy right now.
:)
