the end is near
Oct. 18th, 2011 11:39 amThe end of bike commuting for the season is near. I've had to lug substantially more gear back and forth this week than in previous weeks -- a wind layer and a warmth layer, for example -- and the clothing I have to pack for the office is getting bulkier. More importantly, sunrise is starting to be much later...enough that, soon, it'll be kind of dark outside when I'm supposed to leave the house. Riding in the dark (or even the semi-dark) makes me very nervous. I've noticed some really great reflective gear and bike lighting options out there, but my low-light vision is not super and I just don't trust drivers to see me if my stupidly bright orange shirt is not visible in the sunlight. PERIL.
I probably have another few weeks of biking twice (or even thrice) each week. It's been a lot of fun, feeling all adventurous and swift, and I think I'm going to miss it until springtime. Gotta start thinking NOW about how to replace those days with 50+ minutes of moderate activity in my exercise plan! It's also been awfully convenient lately to let PrincessBoredom borrow my car for school/work and transporting her siblings in the afternoons. Ah, well. Everything changes, right?
