Okay. It's only 10 a.m. and already I'm snarling at well-meaning people here at work, innocently asking what happened to my foot. The whiteboard culture is pretty firmly established here, so I think I'll use it to deflect some of those questions.

I'd like to post three or four reasons to answer the question: Why is Nikki wearing a boot on her foot?

a. too much butt-kicking
b. unfortunate error in performing the "Safety Dance"
c. celebrating "Walk Like a Pirate" day
d. it's Manolo Blahniks or nothing, baby
3. conducting a study on sympathy-related behaviors in the workplace
