saffronhare: (cup o'tea?)

Feeling kind of adrift today. The weekend was great, but mom & dad departed this morning after a generally pleasant week-long visit...and my girls will go back to their father's house this evening, where they will be for the next 2+ weeks. Is it possible to feel homesick for people rather than places?

So the weekend was great; it's Monday that's killing me. :) Will post more later.

It is quite easy to feel at a loss after all the company is gone. The old "now what" creeps in. Would love to have a cuppa with you -- if only in spirit. (P.S. I see you have major heat warnings this week -- find a way to stay cool).

YES. It's been crazy hot here and I'm not heat-tolerant at all. It gets funny because my husband is sensitive to the cold, having sustained some cold-weather injuries while he was in the Marines. (I, having been raised mostly in Northern Europe and New England, sustained heat-related injuries while in the Army.) Finding a happy medium is tricky.

Loving the AC at the office today. I kinda wanna retire to Canada or something. :)

Oh Canada sounds lovely. Although some have forecast with global warming it will turn into a Canadian version of the Amazon rainforest.

On a slightly disreputable note, I have discovered that liberal application of margaritas tends to improve my experience of hot days. (I'm well aware that alcohol consumption is not great for one's hydration levels. Still...with a bit of tequila in my blood, I'm much less *bothered* by it. Plus, it's like a slushie, right?)

I don't think it's "homesickness" exactly, but it's absolutely possible, and even likely. Kind of like a temporary "empty nest", if you want to put a label on it, but really it just seems like plain old-fashioned interpersonal bonding at work.

That's a good point. :)

They all arrived at the same time -- my parents and the girls alike, within an hour or two of each other -- and they're all departing on the same day. (It looked for a minute like Fiona was going to "stow away" in the RV.) Kind of having some emotional whiplash, is all.

That's a good point. Do we somehow know each other? Maybe in a different forum? I just like to keep track of who's posting or reading. :)
