more nesting progress

• All the furniture is in the house now! I know...we got it all outta the apartment a week ago...but we kept looking at that dresser in diermuid's van and just, well, ::sigh::


• There are no more boxes in the living room, dining room, or kitchen remaining to unpack. There are still bits and pieces to find homes for, and some art to hang, but that's not nothing (as Captain Mal would say).


• We've acquired and mostly assembled the loft bed for Fiona Pie. I totally love Craigslist now. Need to figure out some sort of bed slat/box spring solution for mattress support, but it's an awesome little piece. The student desk provided by stregalunae fits underneath really well! Kira Deara would like a daybed in the near future; for now, we have a regular twin-sized bedframe for her.


• Starting to develop some routines and comfort sharing the house as a "blended family," which sounds so trite but really doesn't feel that way. I kind of like that it's just diermuid and I with the two boys right now, so we can get used to each other in relatively quiet times. Later this month, it'll be just my girls here, and that'll let them start to feel settled at home before everybody's here at once. Yay!


• My parents are coming to visit at the end of the month and will be here for the 4th of July. What with scout camps, we won't have everybody here all at once for the whole time, but there will be a day or two of overlap. Should be some marvelous family fun!

Daybeds are so darn cute, and they're such a major pain in the arse to make. It's not as cheap as Craigslist, of course, but Nebraska Furniture Mart has some nice daybeds that are reasonable.
