This unregulated grassroots movement, initiated by featherynscale and saffronhare, seeks to promote world peace and positive relationships between individuals and nations by encouraging the temporary exchange of pajamas. "This is the best game ever," says featherynscale, "and we think everyone should play."

In honor of the age-old advice to "walk a mile in another's shoes" in order to understand that person better, these forward-thinking individuals decided that an exchange of sleepwear could accomplish even more. The multi-sensory benefit of comfy PJs, combined with the subconscious bonding that occurs with sleep and -- as teenaged girls the world over can attest -- trading clothes, all hold great potential in changing the way folks think about their neighbors all over the globe.

"The UNIPEP movement isn't about hoarding power or influence. We encourage and empower caring individuals of all ages to participate in the conscientious exchange of pajamas whenever possible," reported saffronhare.

::Edit -- If participants usually sleep in the nude, they can embrace the spirit of UNIPEP's mission by sharing socks, underwear, jewelry or lingerie. UNIPEP will look forward to reports from the field.::

Since as Diermood pointed out most of us sleep in the nude, maybe an expansion into the exhange of lingere might be considered as an alternative :) Just a thought.

That's part of it. The fullest expression of UNIPEP, however, is the exchange of pajamas -- which takes a step further, when you wear their pajamas. Or whatever.

If you're ambitious, it's even better to wear each other's pajamas at the same time...even when you're sleeping apart.
