Prayers, please.
Dec. 26th, 2008 11:33 amMom just called with her Irish Catholic request for me to "light a candle," and I think the cause is worth marshalling a bit more firepower for:
My cousin's baby girl, Ailish Mary, is a week old and has been hospitalized with some respiratory complications. It sounds very much like the infection that plagued Kira when she was two weeks old -- fever, difficulty breathing due to chest congestion. A lumbar puncture has ruled out bacterial meningitis, but it's so hard to tell what is really going on since they baby's system doesn't give them a lot of clues.
Little Ailish could use some help fighting whatever this is, but I'm also asking for support for her mom, Megan, who is still in the early stages of her own recovery from the c-section. Ailish's Daddy and her big brother, Colin (just over two years old), are both reeling from all this.
Thank you.
UPDATE: Ailish's fever is back up to 103, but there's no other change, and they aren't particularly surprised by that development. She's on IV fluids and antibiotics, and the nursing staff are helping Megan to sit down and nurse whenever possible. Right now, they're calling it "a fever of undetermined origin" and going from there. Her husband has gone home to spend the night with Colin, who likes his grandparents just fine, but not as much as he likes Mommy and Daddy.
