This evening, I finished removing the Black Abomination from the hallway that connects the bedroom with the bathroom and dining room. The method I've developed requires a great deal of boiling water, cloth diapers, a putty knife and lots of patience -- but I seem to have gotten into a groove, so the next bits should go well.

1. Move things out of the crap craft hallway.
2. Finish scraping off the outer layers of paint and wallpaper in that hallway.
3. Engage help (perhaps [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn or [livejournal.com profile] zylch) to rip up the remaining linoleum in that hallway.
4. Have a festival of steaming on the stairway and in the back hallways.
5. Return to Black Abomination removal.

It's so nice to [stand] here and look at all the lovely hardwood floors we're unveiling. Refinishing them is a task that I think I will be very pleased to pay somebody else to do. But still, it's nice to see them.

Note to those with tender footsies: You may want to be sure to keep your feet covered for walking around here...there are bound to be a few splinters.

Now, I'm off to take some drugs and spend quality time with the heating pad. Oh, and we discovered what's underneath the vinyl flooring in the downstairs bathroom -- more blue tile!

Addiction issues

Hi, my name's Andrew I'm marrried to a remodeling addict. I thought it was nothing, just some wallpaper and linoleum removal. I knew painting was in the future, but now I'm scared. You see I started doing some too and I liked it and then she spent more time at it and gates went up between her and the children. Then there was the moaning with pleasure coming from the hallway as she tackled the black abomination. It was that way with all of it pleasure until she was done. Then came the lows the back aches shoulder pains trouble getting out of bed in the morning (well..that's not really new). Then the lying. We talked about leaving the linoleum down in the hall closet because no one could see it and then we could store mops and things that might harm hardwood floors. This morning however when I opened the closet to get a rag there were pristine clean hardwood floors. Convinced she had gotten up in the middle of the night and done the deed I confronted her, but no, she had already finished it when we talked and just couldn't tell me. I'm sorry I'm too choked up to say anything else, that and I have some tile to remove.

I don't know what you're talking about. I think you were just jealous to see me doing something that made me feel strong and happy. I was doing so much of it by myself that you started feeling threatened. You always want to bring me down -- and now you're trying to get in on the remodeling, too!

Besides, I can stop anytime I want. Really. Now, if only I could get this tongue out of my cheek...

You know, I hear [livejournal.com profile] kimjerosky is available for counseling on these sorts of issues...

Getting tongues out of other people's cheeks is nearly as difficult...
