I will assume you weren't watching Kingdom of Heaven. He was nine kinds of unlikable and not sexy in that one. He was like the John Hurt of that movie.

No, it isn't. It's just that different things connote sexiness to different people. It's the qualities that typify the usual connotation that are overrated.
