There weren't any woods or hills or gullies, but there was plenty of running and bopping and generally having some good, barbaric fun. I iz a happeh bunneh.

I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] diermuid, [livejournal.com profile] demimortal, or maybe even [livejournal.com profile] princessboredom will have more Amtgard-y stuff to add, but I just wanna say I had a blast. Lots of good-humored people -- including teens and little kids and old fogeys like me -- plenty of new stuff learned (most of it too geeky to repeat here), and gratitude for the resources to rent a hotel room for the night.

Sitting at my desk now, giggling to myself, and wondering what I'll say if somebody asks me where I got the sunburn. Or the puffy eye. Heh. I'm feeling surprisingly good today -- just some mild soreness, except for the sharp heat of my sunburnt neck. Yeah, that's attractive. Feeling clear-headed and energetic and overall pretty darn happy right now. I think my body really likes all that activity.

Oh, yeah. Do any of you closer friends recall the improbably white "bunny fur" vest [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn's mom gave me for Christmas a few years back? Well, I wore it to feast and court on Saturday night...with black wrap pants, lug-soled boots, red lipstick, and sunglasses. I felt like a Barbarian Rock Star Glamour Queen. Ha!

What you need is something to show off that lovely shoulder bruise. There is no small irony that it was an SCA poleman that gave you that one. Although Amt weapons are not supposed to leave bruises... does that area bruise easier due to the reconstruction?

That is specifically the reason why MY pole isn't done. I have the same core, but thrusts are MUCH stouter than hacks or slashes. Bandpoles are very rigid, so the engineering & testing needed to make them 'safe' for unarmored combat is much higher.

I've always giggled about how much I have to learn about foam and plastics to play in 'medieval' fighting games.

I don't think anything that would show off the bruise would be at all appropriate for work. And I'm pretty sure nobody at work would appreciate it.

I bruise easier than I'd like, but it takes a lot to make me say OW...or WOW. It was a solid "thunk" to the area just below my collarbone, but it didn't seem to me that the hit was too hard in any way.

I'm not touching that with a ten-foot, erm, pole.

Good grief, and I wasn't even going there...

I must have been incredibly clever, or I'm tired now, but I'm not getting it. 8-)
