props to the princesses
Oct. 22nd, 2007 09:33 amI've gotta say, even in the midst of the troubles
agrnmn are navigating, the princesses continue to amaze us both.
Awesome grades from
princessboredom this quarter, including the high school geometry class, for which she works really hard every day. It's awesome to see that she's not only smart, but also that she's solidly in the groove of WORKING smart. That will serve her well...because not all achievements come easy, you know? As an added bonus, she's also pulling in good grades in the class taught by a teacher she doesn't like. Learning how to perform even when you don't like the person in charge is pretty fecking important. There's a good head on that set of strong shoulders.
Princess !Kaboom keeps rockin' our world too. I got to chaperone her gymnastics team lock-in on Saturday night -- what fun! It was great to watch her playing and having fun with her teammates. Her first quarter report was full of S+ and she loves school, loves her teachers. Glad she's getting off to such a positive start. Also, she was a real trooper for the start of an energy/activity/weight study her YMCA after-school program is partnering with the KU energy balance lab for. The first attempt at drawing blood was Not Successful. Thankfully, the second one went better. There were tears, but she recovered quickly and was comforted with breakfast. Hobbits LOVE breakfast...especially after they have to fast for stoopid blood tests. I swear, she was more upset at the prospect of missing breakfast than anything else!
And Princess PrettySchool's report card rocked. She has earned "+" marks for such life skills such as hopping while in motion, finger plays, and identification of all major (visible) body parts. Can't undervalue those sorts of things, you know? At home, we continue to make baby steps toward the issue of little alpha girls not getting their own way all the time. Not so easy, that. :)
Yay! Happy, proud Mom and Dad.

Date: 2007-10-23 03:48 am (UTC)She's asking things like, "Can I wear it when I'm riding my bike or fighting with swords?" Yes, I tell her, that's *exactly* when you should be wearing it. Just do your thing, honey.
I think she WILL need to take it off for a gymnastics session on Sunday, but that will only cost an hour of data. I'll give them a call to confirm that. It's just that I bet wearing it on the uneven bars will hurt a lot and maybe damage equipment.
