When I was at that massive, five-sided building just outside our nation's capitol for some work which will not be detailed online last week, I saw many things that surprised and delighted me.*

1. A really big motorcycle parking section. With lots of shiny and marvelous machines parked therein.

2. More newspaper kiosks for The Onion than for USA Today, and the same number as for The Washington Post.

3. A reasonably decent pixillated photo of myself on my security badge, which I have kept as a souvenir not of the trip, but as proof that a decent photo is indeed possible.

4. The pinkiest pink t-shirt EVAR, with the five-sided building's iconic overhead view picked out in multicolor (red, white, and blue) rhinestones on front, and scripty script (also rendered in rhinestones) with the building's name. Regrettably, the shop was closing and I was unable to purchase this shirt myself. But I'll be back. And it will be acquired. Oh, yes, it will be.

5. An astonishing number of absolutely gorgeous men in uniform. Mind you, I was not surprised that men in uniform were thick on the ground. Nope. I was astonished by the HAWTNESS of these men. See, when last I interacted with this many LTCs and officers/NCOs of comparable rank, they were my father's peers and I was about 18 years old. He's vastly amused by my statement that I don't remember LTCs being so hot when he was one of them. I did not thank him for reminding me that I'm that age myself now. Feh. But wow. That was a whole lot of all right, there.

*This work was not particularly classified. Just trying to be careful what proper nouns I use online, is all.
