anti-procrastination day
So, in a tradition inspired first by FlyLady, I observe Anti-Procrastination Day on Wednesdays. It's pretty effective for me.
But today? This is not turning out to be a day in which I manage to accomplish much of what I'd been putting aside myself. Nope. It's turning out to be one of those days where I get to stop, drop, and roll to handle things other people have forgotten. Because, you know, they're all going on vacation in the next day or so.
Feh, I say.

In government work I find that Wednesdays are the only *real* work days. Today has been the best example of that. Two meetings, a presentation that one of my staff has to give for a regional exercise (that we found out about at 11 am *THIS* morning and that she has to present at), and our functional exercise work that is continuing for exercise that starts on Monday at noon and ends late Tuesday.
So busy... ::thunk::

The trouble with the "not my emergency" policy is that we're talking about production pipeline kind of things. The printing machines have a defined speed; so does the postal service. I get caught as the last stage of the process that relies on human input, so I tend to get the squeeze. Frequently, no matter how long it takes a client to get something back to us, the pressure is on my department to get it to production in time to make the mail date.
So the consequences of NOT doing something are very high. I mean, if a disaster relief organization doesn't raise enough money with the mailing that's supposed to bring in about 80% of their disaster prep funds for the year (outside of actual disaster response), then that's fewer people they're ready to help, you know? It sucks.

Just trying to be helpful I am. I'm just helpful today.
On top of all the work crap. It never ends I tell ya.
