saffronhare: (There I Was)

Last night, I was trying to avoid doing dishes or going to bed. So I scrolled through the TV listings and saw that I could catch the last 30 minutes of a Cirque du Soleil show on Bravo. Excellent! I say to myself. I <3 Cirque do Soleil. I can be all cultural as I waste time.

The first full act to come on was midget contortionists. I swear. Maybe they weren't exactly contorting, but the two of them were doing that really fancy two-person balancing pose thing, circling on a little platform with music that made it sound like they were inside a snowglobe. Pretty bizarre, and yet. Compelling. Particularly when I thought (and quickly rejected the thought) that I should call [livejournal.com profile] diermuid to tell him it was on.

But then, there was an act that started with the proclamation, "I hate chickens!" Huh, I thought. And then watched -- transfixed -- as a sort of dancing/rhythmic gymnasics/contortionist trio took the stage. It was nifty, until rubber chickens began to fall from the sky. SRSLY. Like, a *plague* of rubber chickens, complete with artistic-looking French Canadians hiding under umbrellas.

That was when I decided to turn off the TV and go to bed.

ETA: Lookie! Updated to include [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale's practically perfect new userpic.

** Over the summertime, as I teach myself how to make userpics with the GIMP (hey, now, quit laughing!), I think I'd like to make a variation of an LOL CATZ icon that says, "No shit, there I was." Except with a very large dog in it instead of a cat.

wut now?

Did you just say rubber chickens? When I OVERHEARD (not eavesdropping, heck no!) you and dad taking about the cirque du soleil, I thought that you meant bad like gory or sex bad, but rubber chickens never crossed my mind.

They never would have crossed my mind, either. :)
