The resurgence of LJ-Balderdash (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale) reminded me once again how much I lurve me some word games. I'm good at them. And -- perhaps more importantly, at least for me -- I play them FOR FUN. Sure, I win. But it's just as much fun for me to witness and applaud somebody else's cleverness. I don't play specifically to win. Which makes a very big difference in my world.

At the same time, I'm aware that leaves a lot of other neural pathways un-played-with. And I'm feeling playful lately. Wanting to, um, play with other forms of playfulness these days.

I picked up a copy of Will Shortz's Easiest Sudoku at the airport. With luck, it will not make me cry. I have no math phobia; I'm just frequently stymied by logic and math and spatial relations puzzles. I'm thinking I might finally download some sort of GIMP thingie and learn to make my own fecking userpics from time to time.** And...get this...I went back on NeoPets.

Yeah, I know this stuff is all solitary and mostly internal playfulness. I iz an introvert. Physical playfulness is defintely on the increase too, but that's a different entry.

Pheer my playful bunnie wayz!

** Case in point: I saw [most of] Fearless a few days ago, and I'm unreasonably enchanted with the line, "The Death Waiver has been signed!" I'd also like something to do with "mostly harmless," though I don't have a vision for what it might look like. Certainly NOT a planet Earth.
