I almost forgot. The friendly people at the Breast Cancer 3-Day sent me a little electronic survey thing which asked many useful questions about my experience with the event. Nothing too surprising, until I got to the end, and it asked me to indicate whether I was:

a. male
b. female
c. transgender
c. other (with a space to fill in my very own term)

Wow. I took "b" because it's clearly the truth for me. But the options were pretty cool, I thought.

I approve. :)
Not that I don't generally approve of the event and its beneficiaries, but, you know, extra points.

=)

"Cultural competence" which this falls into is beginning to be seen and felt everywhere... Komen is very good (ahead of most non-profits) in terms of being all-inclusive. One of the many reasons they are among my favorite causes... not to mention I would like to keep my boobies...

thanks for sharing...

No problem. Aside from being leaders in the cause and good stewards of donor gifts (a thing about which I'm very, very picky), the 3-Day is a splendid event. Well-run, with lots of support for participants in the months leading up to and the walk itself. I'm impressed and seriously considering doing it again next year, if you can believe that.

I can believe that. I have heard amazing stories from multiple people (I know 3 others who pariticipated this year). I have participated in several one day events an have always been pleased with Komen's organization (and I too am a stickler about the donations).
