Thank you! There was a walking team there with a pirate theme goin' on: The Treasured Chests. They had black t-shirts with a skull & crossbones on it, and a pink bra dangling from one of the crossbones. It was awesome!

And one woman I saw actually walked with one of those hanging monkeys around her neck.

Was it an African American woman with CUREiosity the Rally Monkey? If so, that was my teammate Ethel's daughter (Ethel being the one who's lost multiple family members). We all put notes in the monkey's diary, and she's on her way to Philly now.

That was Nikki, she claims she has brain damage. And yep I'll bet Pam is high and exhausted, Nik is!

I knew that...Hopefully all damage is temporary :)
I send a little extra healing her way too~

Hugs to you!

Thanks, darling. I got to see Pam a couple of times each day. We ate a meal together, and walked down the hill to closing ceremonies in the same group. It was really great to see a friendly face.

And, yes, damage is healing, particularly as I remember to spend today Off My Feet -- epsom salt soaks are my friend.

Oughta be a few more "eats" on there; the crew affectionately calls it the 60-mile buffet :-)

Think I forgot to say thanks for the ride. Dude. Much, much thanks for the ride. ::falls over::

And how. I was astonished by how much food they had, and the amount they expected me to eat. The crew was just amazing -- you guys made it so I didn't have to really think about anything but walking.

And you're welcome for the ride home. Since I probably won't be at dinner, it was a nice chance to give you a hug before you were really caught up in the maelstrom of your departure. You really were a bright spot in some of the most challenging moments of this weekend. Thank you.

Good, then we did our job well :-) Glad I got a change to hug you goodbye -- if the little ones don't make it to dinner tonight, I'll have to send them postcards.

Sweet buttery jeezus, I just looked at the clock and realized that in 48 hours I'll be getting on the first leg of the flight. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!! Must clean must clean must clean!

60 miles: just a good stretch of the legs.

Ain't I just.
:)

Can't wait to tell you about Barry -- a guy from Michigan who's walking all twelve 3-Days around the country this year.

Day-um. Sort of put my own aches and pains into perspective, you know?

Woot. Oh -- there was a rest stop where we all wrote names on the biggest bra I've ever seen. I wrote the name you and K gave me from her Grandmother on there. From what I can tell, it's a traveling bra -- goes to all the 3-Days!

:)

Bad joke time!

That bra is soooo big that it is no longer a Playtex now it is a Work-tex! *evil grin*

Seriously though, It means a lot to Kel and myself! Also when we told Kelley's Grandma about giving her name to you Grandma got all misty eyed and vercleped.

I remember the conversation we had at Nate&Shae's party about being a good Priest/Priestess. It's about service. Service to the Gods and service to your comunity. And let me tell you, You are Priestess enough for any community.

*hugs*

Please tell me they fixed your feet up nice for you on Sunday morning??

Nope. The medical tent never opened up again, so I managed a little self-care and just didn't look again or stop moving until I was All Done. :)

I'm paying for it today, but things seem to be improving as I stay off my feet and soak with epsom salts, etc. Other folks are far worse off and I'm feeling pretty cheerful about the whole thing.

Rowan has named one of my blisters "Steve."

Unbelievable! I'm so sorry!

Is Steve the one on your heel?

Date: 2006-09-19 02:37 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] saffronhare.livejournal.com
Steve is the one on my left heel; Peggy is the one on my right heel.

(shrug) It wasn't so very awful. Medical folks were taking care of the people who really needed intervention and professional help. I did just fine for that last day with self-care...it helped to know that I'd be All Done by the time I needed to remove the bandages.

Still, it was nice to see you two and get a hug. :)

You done good.

Yes. Today, I'm indulging in some serious pats on my own back, letting the euphoria of the whole thing carry me, and generally feeling very proud of myself. Thank you!
