Lots happened this weekend. I'm sore and tired, but very happy. I thought I was really on my game this morning, but then I noticed I was washing my pen in the office kitchen sink. So maybe not so alert after all, but still pretty cheerful about it, so that's not all bad.
By this time next week, I'll be ALL DONE with the Breast Cancer 3-Day. Thanks to the generous giving of so many of you, I've reached my fundraising goal...and then some. I'm so grateful for all your support and encouragment and patience with me. If there's anything specific you want me to do with a sponsored body part of yours, please let me know soonest. Opening ceremonies take place oh-so-early on Friday morning out at the Speedway, with closing ceremonies sometime around dusk on Sunday at the Veteran's Memorial. I'll post details and links to "cheering stations" later in the week. Now, it's time to turn my mind to packing. Ugh.
I'm also happy to report that the last of the icky bedroom carpet has been removed, and almost all the Black Abomination has been removed from the surface. There's some that won't come up until the floors are actually refinished -- we'll put down a layer of indoor/outdoor carpet or something to keep from having to walk on it until then -- but all that can be scraped up has been. I've gotta say,
agrnmn was a hero. No way I could have finished all that on Saturday without his help. My arms are just DED. So glad all that yuck is out of the house now, though.
Also -- because I finished sealing the hallway walls last weekend, we were able to put nails in those walls and actually hang some things. It was wildly exciting, and we congratulated each other on being so well-hung. :) In light of this meaningful amount of progress, I have gained permission to start tackling a few New Projects. (See,
agrnmn objects to having too many rooms or areas demolished at one point, which I strive to respect.) On deck this fall and winter: steam wallpaper off the bedroom walls, finish the ceilings and molding for the hallways, remove more tile from the bathroom walls, and steam wallpaper off the living room walls. The big challenge? His terms for removing wallpaper from the living room walls: it has to be started and completed in ONE DAY. So. Expect that I'll be rounding up a couple more steaming machines and a work crew to tackle that job sometime between now and December. If we don't have it done by the weekend of December 16/17, then my mom has volunteered to help out when she's in town. She's stoked about the one-day challenge, too. (grin)
Got to sleep in on Sunday, until my public demanded french toast. Yum. A little more puttering, and then it was off to
starwyse's place for a reiki session. I got to be the "sponge" for their practice. Wow. I'll unpack that for a closer circle of folks a bit later on today, I think.
Made it to Gaia for ritual and much shock over my haircut -- I'd forgotten how many people hadn't seen it yet. That was fun. (smirk) The trance was super-double-plus fun, since I was sort of primed from the reiki. At one point, though, I nearly laughed out loud. When we encountered the "guardian" figure who held the key/talisman thingie that was supposed to be The Answer (or at least An Answer), I looked around and didn't see a darn thing. Then, I looked down. Huh. Prairie dogs. Everywhere. You know, prairie-dogging. I thought to myself, WTF self, this isn't your trance. You've accidentally stepped into
featherynscale's trance. As it turns out, the action to be taken to gain passage from the guardias was to -- you guessed it -- bop them on the heads with one of those puffy hammer thingies like at the arcade. The prairie dogs were good sports about it, though, and we all had a great time.
More later. Toodles. XO
