Okay, so maybe I believe now.

saffronhareI think I met the Weird Dream Fairy last night. Not that I had weird dreams, mind you. I just think I met the...er, personage.
See, I was desperately trying to pretend I didn't have a migraine. Finally gave in and took some Tramadol at about 2 a.m. and it took awhile before I could lay my head down on the pillow. The drug induces sort of a twilight state for me -- I drifted for some time before actually falling asleep.
At one point, I opened my eyes (feeling certain I was awake, if not really clear-headed) and saw a gigantic penguin standing next to my side of the bed. It towered over me. I suspect it would have been taller than waist height if I'd been standing next to it. This thing had Mass to it, likewhoa.
The penguin personage startled to see me looking at it, much like I'd imagine Santa or the Tooth Fairy would startle if a kid they thought was sleeping really wasn't. Then, I sort of thought I heard something like, "There, there. You just roll over and go back to sleep." I mumbled, "okay," patted it on the head and did just that, but not before getting the strong impression that the penguin had wings. Like, real weight-bearing wings, in addition to the flippy things that all penguins have. Huh. I do not remember any dreams in the scant three-plus hours I slept after that.

agrnmn about it this morning, and he said it was totally a post-worthy kind of encounter. Your mileage may vary.
