Well, hm.

I really don't know what I think about this concealed carry legislation up for vote in Kansas.

UPDATE: On a related note, since I think it has something to do with concealed weaponry, I have managed once again to wear the bra with the blown-out underwire. It keeps sliding out and stabbing me in the chest. Ouch. Must remember to repair this or burn it.

I *do* think, however, that I will make an effort very soon, to learn how to safely operate a handgun. Seems a useful competency to gain, and I don't have much of an excuse -- what with the Bullet Hole just up the block.

I'm more than happy to lend you my .380. It is a nice little gun that fits in smaller hands quite nicely.

[livejournal.com profile] cerrunos calls it a good back-up peice. A bit expensive for a drop peice but good back-up. If you want something with a little more kick, he has a .40 cal that you might enjoy.

Such friends I have!

I have to admit that I don't know how to use a smaller handgun and thus have no idea what I'd prefer. It's just been M-16 or bigger, hand-to-hand, or even blades...but no actual sidearms, you know? I'll go ask at the Bullet Hole and see if I need to have my own weapon to take a class, or what.

(hugs and kisses to the weaponry people)

I know the Bullet Hole rents handguns (as well as eye/ear protection) for use on their range. It's been a few years, but I used to go there fairly regularly. It's a great way to try out different weapons to find one that suits you best. I think they're around $8-$10 for a session.

All you have to supply is targets and ammunition - which, of course, they will be happy to sell you, but I think their prices were reasonable.

Good to know -- thanks! I got a gift certificate for the Bullet Hole one year for my birthday, but I didn't manage to use it before it expired. (sigh) Sad, since they're only a block away.

So, friend of friend of friend.
::tilting head in a friendly and curious manner::
Who are you? :)

Ok, that should read "[livejournal.com profile] fyreseer and I", up there.

Maybe someday they'll add a feature that allows you to actually edit comments like you can with a regular post. LOL.

(smile) Yeah, I've deleted a comment and re-done it once or twice because of odd typos before.

Thanks for the intro. I think you must have left before I started socializing with [livejournal.com profile] starwyse and the others, though we've moved through overlapping social circles for some years.

My husband, [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn, is from the KC area, but we only moved back here in late 1999. For some more cross-referencing: I officiated at the wedding of [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants and [livejournal.com profile] triadruid. They and [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale are godparents of our youngest girl, along with honorary aunties/uncle. And [livejournal.com profile] zerself will be helping me get very dirty with gardening this spring and summer.

I thoroughly approve of the "nunya bizness" answer too. :) Looking forward to meeting you!

I've been there before. I know that you can rent a gun to take on their range. I am sure they would let you borrow one to take a class with. I prefer my Llama .380 because it has very little recoil but still has some stopping power.

Your post also reminded me that [livejournal.com profile] triadruid wanted to take pictures of [livejournal.com profile] cerrunos's revolver. Based on the KU thing, he might want to do it quick as he will be turning that in if he gets the KU job.

You're kidding me. It's really called a Llama?

Yep. I have a Llama .380. Llama makes a good hand-gun. Crappy crappy magazines but good hand-guns.

Dolly. That's what she should call it. Although for its being a handgun, that really isn't too funny.

Dunno, I think the irony makes it funnier still.

Yeah, but it's the kind of tastelessly disgusting funny that's funnier to talk about than actually do. At least in my book.

So are you telling me I shouldn't do this now... Make up your mind! Or perhaps I shouldn't be so swayed by suggestion... :-p

It depends on what level of offense your personal belief system has about naming a handgun after the Dalai Lama, I think. Choose your own adventure, sweetie. :)

My Buddhist predilection kinda says, "Um... how rude." So I suspect that this is not something I would do... that and considering I was thinking she said, "Dolly" as in the genetic sheep (granted my brain said, "That's odd. It's a Llama, she's sheep," but I digress) and not the Tibetan Buddhist leader...

Okay, time to take this "funny or not funny" debate off my LJ, ladies. :)

LOL! I never really thought about giving it a name or that it was a Llama or anything like that...
