So, somebody has planted the idea in my head that I need to do the Breast Cancer 3-Day here in Kansas City come September. With the lunchtime walking I've been doing, I've already achieved the "training level" I need to start their 24-week ramp-up program. Research indicates it's a very well executed event, and it's a cause that's near and dear to my heart. They require a pretty significant fundraising commitment -- they set the bar at $2,200 or more, which I respect -- and there seems to be a lot of support from the event organizers for creative and cooperative fundraising over the next several months. Hell, considering my line of work, it'd be shameful if I couldn't do it. There's an orientation session this weekend, I think, so I'll let folks know if I'm going to take it on.
Also, I'll be traveling to Atlanta for a fundraising conference at the beginning of April. Does anybody here in LJ-land have recommendations for nifty places to seek out on evenings during which charm with clients and colleages will not be asked of me?
