a series of fancy knots
Feb. 20th, 2006 09:02 amThat's really all there is to crochet and knitting once you get down to it. I fumbled through learning how to follow a corchet pattern Saturday night and went to the yarn store the soon-to-be-renamed
chaosdruid mentioned. Ooh! Aah! My husband said it un-manned him, seeing me have so many orgasms that he'd had nothing to do with. I said no, he'd actually driven me to them. :)
Anyway, I've made a good start on a table runner -- it only took three tries to make the 154-stitch foundation chain, what with losing count and all. Shorter and wider than a scarf, simple (just a ton of single crochet), and useful. I'm very pleased with the prett-ay cotton yarn and the weight of it so far.
I was talking with
agrnmn about this knit/crochet kick. Part of it is inspiration from Lugh to gain competencies in things that make me happy. I'm very happy to be able to knit and crochet, to do fine needlework, to do household sewing and quilting and costuming. Those are lifeboat skills, man. Plus, I dig textiles. Maybe I'll learn how to construct a rope dress next, eh?
But we figured out what might be the most valuable lifeboat skill of all (aside from making good garlic butter): lifeboat repair.
