Which is something entirely different than a triple whipstich, mind you.

Anyway, I have a lovely Block of Some Sort started with my cheerfully multicolored yarn, which I'm building with a few rows of sc, followed by a few of dc, then a few rows of tc, and then counting down to dc and sc again. It's pretty nifty practice. My yarn tension and stitch size are relatively consistent -- and I don't seem to have accidentally decreased/increased or dropped stitches, though my eye for that isn't so great yet.

This, added to knitting, is totally a lifeboat sort of skill. You know, if there's a weaver/spinner on board...along with a few sheep. :)

Yay, me. I need to find a simple pattern or two soon, so I can learn how to read the darn things. Those patterns should lead to the next set of stitches to learn. Maybe I could start a collection of sample blocks? An afghan might develop (or a lap-ghan, or a really marvelous selection of Barbie Blankets). We'll see. It baffles [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn that I prefer to crochet/knit with the TV on, but it's sort of like trancing. The layers of visual stim, combined with the physical repetition of the stitches, really helps me disengage the Left Brain for some rest, and engage my Right Brain for some creativity and freethinking. (shrug)

I'd forgotten how much I like textile work. There's a hankering in me to do some serious sewing, but that'll have to wait until there's a convenient and safe place to set up the machine and supplies. It's just too much of a pain to get it all out, only to put it away before I'm finished so there won't be straight pins all over the house. Unless I'm pulling an all-nighter, which is only fun about twice a year. :)
