Can't sleep, and there's a tendency to dwell on the negative, so I'm going to counter that with some positive things about this week, which has thus far gone almost nothing like I planned. In no particular order:

1. A very sweet [livejournal.com profile] diermuid who's been patient and good-humored with me over the last few days, and who makes me laugh even when it hurts.
2. A house-trained snuggle puppy who makes sure I'm not sitting on the couch alone right now, even though the little bastard is asleep.
3. Poached eggs and waffles for dinner. NOM.
4. Freelance work that provides some extra income as I search for work, along with the freedom to NOT work while I'm healing, maddening as that may be.
5. Access to the Internet and a huge garden tub, in appropriate measures.

This weekend's bronchitis has morphed into pneumonia now, so I've got newer, stronger drugs and orders to not to much of anything. That's not a limitation I cope with easily...even with the benefit of cough syrup containing codeine. So. Distractions.

How about some garden planning? I don't think I'll have the time for a lot of gardening this summer, since we'll be working mostly on the inside of the house in Gardner, but Kira Deara has specifically requested a "butterfly garden" and I think it might be do-able.

There's a raised bed already framed in and mulched on the west side of the house, with nothing much in it at the moment. I think the soil tends to be quite damp over there, so perhaps a combination of rain garden and butterfly garden attributes might be nice.

As a bonus, there are already two oak tree saplings on the property -- one is pin oak and one is red oak. Whee!

Thinky, thinky.
