Home for a shower and a nap, and a bit of an update while I decompress. First, props to [livejournal.com profile] triadruid, [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar, and La Greca for excellent coverage. Plus, tea and cinnamon toast. Princess Boredom is feeling well enough to be Bored. She was delighted to find more books in her bag from home than items of clothing, something which caused much laughter from her primary nurse today, Kathleen. Kathleen is Scottish, and it's a real thrill to hear her say "albuterol" and "righty-tighty."

We're 90% sure she'll be there for Sunday night now. She's just not likely to be stable off her oxygen, ambulatory and all, as well as stabilized on the menu of meds we'll be managing. Hard to say exactly what has brought her asthma out of its six- or seven -year dormancy, but the landscape is likely to be different for her for a while. There's some speculation that the hormone fluctuations of new menstruation may have changed things, but who really knows. The snootful of dust has been mentioned, but anybody who's been to my house knows there's no shortage of dust in her daily life. Meh.

Here's the plan: I'm going to shower and nap, then try to provide some normalcy by bringing the little ones to Gaia today (depending on how hard I nap). After that, there will be a visit in the evening to the hospital. The overnight shift belongs to [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn this time. La Greca will be going a bit later (I think), but random visiting is discouraged. There's a lot of little kids who are fragile there, and the nursing staff (heroes that they are) generally don't want anybody else around if it can be helped.

It's funny to note that last night's respiratory therapist was talking with her about oxygen and blood and such (really excellent age-appropriate education there), when the topic of blue blood came up. He joked about how perhaps she's royalty...and was a bit taken aback when giggles erupted, all out of proportion with his notion of cleverness.

Note: with the nasal oxygen thingie on, she looks a little bit like a Fremen.

My parents have been on the phone with her a few times today already, and Nonny is planning to come out earlier than she'd planned this week (like, Tuesday instead of Thursday). Plus, Poppy may come for a day or two...because he is Freaking Right Out. After Polky's passing and PK's concussion, he's all sappy about "how precious life is," and very distressed about how far away his grandkids are. My Dad, Honorary Dean of the Walk It Off School of Personal Injury is telling me I "just can't be too careful" with his little girls. ::sigh:: We're lucky, says [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn, that they're not selling their house to move up here.

The tea and toast have soothed me greatly now. I shall shower and fall into the flannelly goodness of my bed soon. Kiss, kiss.
