because he said a turn of phrase of mine was "genius." That earns you several points, sugarplum. Plus, some answers.
Here goes...for
maximumbob:
1. Preferences: PC or Mac? iTunes or Windows Media? Wireless or wired? Technophile or technophobe?
Quite honestly, it's not important to me whether it's a PC or a Mac -- just that it works. I'm technically ambidextrous, so I can go with either system pretty effectively. As a writer, I don't often need the screaming power of a Mac system, but they're darn cute machines (Mac seems to pay more attention to the niceties of industrial design). I own a PC and work on one most of the day. I like iTunes better than Windows Media but I don't know if I could say quite why. Wireless is much, much more convenient, as long as one can get a signal. As for technical wizardry? I do not feel a burning need to understand why or how my computer works. I aim to be a reasonalbly not-stupid user, that's all.
2. If had the power to go back and make some famous author write a sequal to a piece of literature you loved reading as a kid, what would it be?
Huh. I don't know. Most of what I remember reading were books in series. However, I've been searching for a particular book about Upsy-Downsy land for years now and keep failing to find it. If I ever find it, then I might want a sequel.
3. If there was some natural talent you don't have you could aquire via a wish or the like, what would it be?
I'd like to be able to wiggle my ears. That, or look good in hats.
4. What is your worst fear?
The fear that occassionally keeps me from functioning is a fear of heights. I start sweating just from climbing up a few steps to change a lightbulb. The fear that makes me cry in the night is a worry that something horrible will happen to my children, alternating with a fear that I'll die before they're finished.
5. What is your favorite charity/good cause?
I'm a sucker for a good cause, and a professional fundraiser, so I've got a lot of opinions about this. I don't think there's one particular answer. I like PBS because of the non-commercial thing (though "enhanced underwriting" is a thorn) and the support of great thinking. I believe Habitat for Humanity does excellent work, even with the evangelical Christian mission. And World Wildlife Fund gets my vote for the animals. These preferences are likely to change at any moment, but those are usually the ones I do Christmas gifts from.
