The weekend was a teeter-totter of pros and cons:

Fun thing that I was able to quickly find patterns and affordable fabrics to make a dress for Princess Sticky. Not so fun that there was a gigantic sale in JoAnn's. (Sale = good. Crowds of fabric whores when my intention was to be quick = bad.)

Fun thing that we got to spend some time with [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar that afternoon. Not so fun that JoAnns's took so long and cut the time short. Thank goodness she had the presence of mind to make mac & cheese for lunch when it was clear we'd be late for tea. (Note to self: homemade mac & cheese is beloved of Brigid.) And brownies. Yum.

Fun thing that I got to spend several uninterrupted hours manifesting a dress for Princess Sticky. Not so smart that those hours were between 8:30 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. It looks very pretty, even if I did put the sleeves on upside down. ::happy sewing bunny dance::

Fun thing that we all got to Faire only slightly after the cannon and spent some very pleasant hours there. Fun thing that Princess Boredom was fitted for her first adult-sized bodice and looks lovely. (The XS fit alarmingly well, so we went with a size S instead, so there would be less boob presentation and more room for...er, growth.) Excellent that the younger princesses were pretty darn even-tempered. Most marvelous that [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn went regimental -- hard to say how disappointed he is that nobody checked, preening dragon that he is. Fun thing that [livejournal.com profile] featherynscale and [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants loaned me some garb. Not so fun that I sweated through it, but hey. I felt gorgeous. Thank you!

The most funnest thing was simply that there were people we knew and could say hello to, instead of tromping about all on our own. Fun thing to have seen Mistress Copia and others. I even got to sit down and watch a game of balls for the very first time, and compare noses with Mistress Azucena. Glad it was a quickie -- that way, I didn't leave [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn alone with the little ones too much longer. Fun thing that the little ones kept their dresses on for a couple of hours before stripping and changing into shorts and t-shirts (lucky puppies). Thrilled that I managed to speak a teensy bit of German, distracted as I was by children. (The kids get very confused when mommy speaks in an accent.)

Fun thing to have been in bed by 10:30 p.m. last night, after a very satisfying mocha shake and some petting from my dragon. Super-fun that the girls slept through, giving me a solid 8 eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. A bit hoarse and sore today, but glad to have packed in so much fun.

Presence of mind, when coupled with presence of cheese, can be very efficacious. Hail, Brigid!

The two older girls seemed to have a fabulous time, though there was gnashing of teeth (mostly from mine) about not having thousands of dollars to spend on pretties. Surprisingly little complaint about the heat.

I mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] nodeal57that they did swell with about 60 minutes of "release time," when they had a watch and orders to meet up with us at such-and-such time and place. Perhaps that was an error, given the open-mouthed and blinky look he gave me when I mentioned it. Let me know if that violated a rule youse guys might have?

We didn't discuss it. In all honesty, I probably wouldn't have done it myself, but as long as they were together, I'd trust their ability to raise an unrivaled hue and cry. No big deal.

Yeah, if there is a next time this season, and the kids are there... I'll sacrifice myself and lead the children away so he can get a good molesting from the wenches...regimental or not. ;)

Couldn't someone else take the kids off, I mean Copia looks to be a real accommodating type. ;)

Bah. Regimental kiltedness, and I missed it.
There should be announcements about these things.

Really? We were that spastic? You know, I was so often distracted by child management that I walked right by a few people we knew without saying hello. Whoops.

No, not spastic. You guys just came in when nobody was coming in and stood there. And you also stood out as that outfit looked damn good on you. :-)
