Birthday Juggernaut, part the first
Apr. 30th, 2005 06:25 pmThe morning was bright and mercifully warm at Deanna Rose Farmstead. Wow, have they expanded! I had no idea we could have reserved a little spot inside for our little gathering. Still, it was a lot of mild-mannered fun, which is really what a 4-year-old's birthday should be about.
Grandy and Pappy, two sets of aunts and uncles, and two cousins joined us for a goat-wrangling adventure. Princess Boredom didn't even pretend not to know us. Princess !Kaboom just wanted to find the play park area to swing, slide, and generally bounce around. She was in sort of an elliptical/erratic orbit with her squadron of grown-ups -- touching base or waving, then racing away to the next thing. The cousins all did their own thing in the same general area, which was fine by us and pretty normal for kids their ages. Princess Sticky bullied the goats (grabbed 'em by the horns when they tried to push her for food) and then climbed onto a bouncy thing in the play park. She stayed put once she realized that getting off meant another kid might snag her spot.
After awhile, I went out to set up our cake and stuff. Pictures and a far more amusing version of the story will no doubt be posted by
agrnmn, after he returns from Laser Tag with Princess Boredom and her cadre of friends. I am mostly not sorry to be missing that, and very grateful that
agrnmn could get the day off work to wrangle things with me.
The little ones are pretty quiet, watching a movie before bedtime.
