saffronhare: (Bring it on.)

It's taken me this long to sift through and pick out my "fictional character" crushes from my early teen years. That, and learning how to use photo-hosting and coding the photos into my LJ (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants!). Whether it's worth waiting for is not my call, but I had a great time. Let me just say that the end of the workday is way too far away.

First in a group that's got no particular order: Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. It's sort of the same character as Han Solo, but I like Indy better. Hero dirt of antiquity as opposed to space, perhaps. And whips. Han Solo didn't have any whips, that I can recall. Plus, I respected Karen Allen as a love interest much more than Carrie Fisher. I bet [livejournal.com profile] chronarchy is going to have a field day with this one.

Professor Jones

Next, we've got Rutger Hauer as Navarre in Ladyhawke.
.
.
.
'Scuse me. I needed a moment there. This was the first time my budding sexuality experienced the combined impact of leather, warhorses, swords and menace. I had such a thing for Rutger that I paid money to see him in Blind Fury at the movies. ::sigh:: He tried so hard.

Hold me tight, Navarre

Val Kilmer as Madmartigan is the only reason I'd ever bother to watch Willow. That's right, folks -- I haven't even seen it. Huh. More dirt, and horses and swords and leather and menace.

Val, baby.

Just to mix things up, Annie Lennox. Go 80s Euro-pop. She's a hottie. Looks like she's wearing angora and camouflage here. Love her haircut, too. Yowza.

Annie in Cammie

Marc Singer as the Beastmaster. (Annie was in there to balance out the IQ factor, see.) No, not his appearances on the silly thing they put on TV -- that puts him in the wrong time zone for this meem. I mean the silly thing that was the movie. Note that the animal companion is not a horse here. And the Beastmaster isn't wearing armor. I have some variety in my tastes, you know. It should be noted that I think he looks even better these days, now that he isn't so...shiny. Rawr.

The Beastmaster

Sting as Feyd Harkonnen in Dune. Normally, I don't go for blondes at all...and I sort of prefer Sting as he is now (more bulk). But he was so cleverly, gracefully lethal that I found myself fascinated. Kyle MacLachlan as Paul Atredies just didn't have that kind of allure for me, ever. He's presented here in convenient LJ icon form.

Screwed by Feyd

And, as a special bonus -- Richard Hatch as Captain Apollo from Battlestar Galactica. There's a reason why there aren't any other TV personalities on my list. My pre-teen and early teen years were not spend with much TV at all. We lived in Germany much of that time, and the years we were in the US I was much to preoccupied with sports and theatre to ever be sitting in front of the boob tube.

But Apollo was special. Yes, as [livejournal.com profile] triadruid pointed out, Lt. Starbuck (played by Dirk Benedict, appearing as Dirk Benedict) seemed to be more my style. It's just that, on some level, I didn't trust Starbuck. Apollo wasn't as much of a bad boy (not at all a bad boy, really), but I figured I could rely on him. Starbuck was too much of a joker -- I worried about that. Even at 10, I worried about that. There's a Cancerian for you.

I was traumatized by Sting as Feyd-Rautha. I think I really could have lived my entire life without ever having to see Sting in his underpants and been perfectly content.

For as similar as our tastes are in actual people, our taste in fantasy people is madly different.

Even though our timeframes are a little different, I can find no argument at all against your first five (Apollo, though? Gyeah. :P) I will say that you should probably see Willow at some point. I think you'll like it more than you think you will. He's certainly MY favorite from that movie, and he gets very, very dirty at times.

Just trying to help. Apollo???

Logic has very little to do with it.

Yeah. I almost didn't put that one on there.

I was, like, 9 or 10 at the time. I role-played the girl sidekick in a lot of playground games, and she had an unrequited crush on Apollo, so I developed one...just a little pre-teen method acting. Now, I look at the photo and see that Starbuck is definitely more fun. I'd still worry about trusting him, but I'd know how to kick his ass if necessary. Apollo probably couldn't take me and therefore suffers by comparison.

I don't think anyone has ever called me that before! I'm not sure whether to be amused or offended, but I'm going with "amused" out of self defense :)

I said it with a smile on my face, dear. It's meant with affection. (The first time I called [livejournal.com profile] triadruid a cretin, he knew that it meant I loved him...)

Predatory,
Saff

*laughs* Hehe. No worries. If it was insulting, it would have been much less amusing of a word :)
