Wow. What a difference a week makes. December 3-5 were a recent-history low...super-low...tears on the pillow kind of low.

December 10-12 contained a lot of joy and productivity and new things. I'm dizzy now, but happier.

Friday Night

Got to go to a suprise party for [livejournal.com profile] breathofgold given my her HILF, [livejournal.com profile] iron_clad. Even though plans were a bit up in the air for me until the moment I left the house, I got dressed up in something pettable and went. While there, I got to eat velvet cake, chocolate cake and lemon cake. Received marvelous hugs from [livejournal.com profile] zerself and [livejournal.com profile] starwyse, who said the kindest things to me. Met many folk from LJ-land whose real names and faces I finally learned. It was mildly terrifying to walk into a party at which I only knew approximately 4.5 people (can you say "extreme introvert"?), but somebody remembered me from another party because of my ass...so that made everything okay. How pleasant is it, at 35 years old, to turn around at a party and have somebody behind you exclaim, "Oh! You're the one with the great ass! I remember you! I must pet it now!" Good times.

I even got home a full hour before I'd told [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn to expect me (I'd planned it that way, sneaky bunny that I am). Even managed to un-park the car from the tree without any actual damage. (Don't ask, snookums.)

Saturday

Much recalibration occurred with Fun being the main goal. And it worked. Cookies were made in the superlovely kitchen of [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn's mom, who was only mildly horrified to discover this activity when she returned home. She joined in and helped us finish baking, so good on her. Much grandparently fun ensued, especially after I announced that the batch involving confectioner's sugar was best made in our own kitchen.

Other high points included smart prep of dry ingredients for cinnamon muffins (great idea by [livejournal.com profile] agrnmn), baking of two cranberry breads for GC's bazaar and packing/prep of Nine Fires stuff -- also for the GC Bazaar. Hero-worship goes to [livejournal.com profile] zylch for the masterful acquisition of a cutting/scoring machine. Many gerbils died, but you saved the lives of many other innocents that day.

Even more better fun, I got to have La Greca over for a while so that [livejournal.com profile] fionnabhar and [livejournal.com profile] nodea57 could go to a holiday party. She was great fun for Princess Boredom, and the two of them earned a little spending money for the bazaar by wrangling bedtime for the little ones. It's all about perceived value, man.

Sunday

The most glorious thing about the first part of Sunday was how well-prepared we were. I only had to bake the cinnamon muffins (which do not keep well) for the Kitchen Witch table, finish loading the car, shower and get dressed. Consequently, I never actually threw up from the sheer terror of Nine Fires' public debut at the Bazaar. Hardly any gerbils had to die. I even managed to curb my hovering to a degree that [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants only issued the friendliest threats to kill me. That woman schmoozes like a champion, by the way.

We fulfilled the goals we set for ourselves for the day: provided a service for the vendors and gathered a not-hardly-pathetic-at-all donation for GC out of it; had actual product to show and sell; listened to some good feedback about the cards and such; sold a few items and even have a few people to follow up with. We have some useful leads and suggestions about where to market next, which we'll be following up on in the next few days...well, soon. It is well begun, I think. Dash on over to [livejournal.com profile] kittenpants' journal for a glimpse at the products and designs available so far. Man, I've gotta learn how to link stuff. Behold!
Nine Fires Press

Today, I'm all managerial and shit. There are no meetings to attend tonight. And hubby sleeps at home. Whee!

Oh, and if any of you hear [livejournal.com profile] zylch coughing any more, please make her call the doctor. She never listens to me, but that cough just hasn't gone away and she sounds damn near consumptive. ::poke:: XOXO
