Cancerian fantasies

Even if you're gonna make fun of me, I'm gonna say it:

Today, I want to be the one who stays home. I hate missing bedtimes and being late for work if I linger to have breakfast with the little ones.

I love the Saturdays when I can spend the day with the kitchen door open, puttering and cleaning, chatting with kids running in and out with the dogs, making enormous platters of PB&J sandwiches. I actually enjoy washing the hardwood floors we worked so hard to expose.

I enjoy the rituals of doing laundry, the scent of clean sheets and the sight of plenty of clean socks. There's nothing quite like having my choice of fresh, fluffy towels.

I miss having the time to cook, even if I'm not very good at it. I miss being able to really binge on sewing -- which I am really good at. If I had the time to sew and a little bit of a budget, I wouldn't need to lust after purchased garb. I want to sew with laces and satins and silks and brocades, and...

Oh, poo. Time to suck it up, sister, and get back to work.

Increased allotments towards savings and retirement is my compensation... I hope to be able to slack off a little by 45, a full 20 years before "retirement-ish" age.

I also look forward to the next economic boom. When life is good, companies hire more people, and the workload is lightened. We just happen to be in crunch time when 10 people do the job that 25 used to. So we streamline and cut corners until quality is for shit, but looks REALLY GOOD on paper.
