pretty darn pleased with m'self

I whipped out the first of a half-dozen flannel, be-ribboned pillowcases for KiraDeara's birthday sleepover this coming weekend. We purchased the fabric an unprecedented whole WEEK ahead of time, to make these little babies, which will serve as "goodie bags" for her guests because I am reluctant to give out little plastic bags of crap and candy and things that will end up shoved under somebody's bed within a few days.

The picture is terrible, but I think the pillowcase itself turned out pretty nicely. The next few will probably be a bit easier (and better), but the Birthday Girl is delighted, which is really all that matters. One or two more each of the next couple of evenings will mean not-frazzled mommy on the night of the party!

They all look a little bit different, and they're all mildly imperfect in their own ways, but the Girl is delighted and the pillowcases are definitely adorable and snuggly. I figure that's a WIN. Even better: Once I got the approach ironed out (no pun intented), it took less than an hour to make a pair of pillowcases. And I only had to use the straight stitch and zig-zag stitch settings!
