saffronhare: (Everybody's Alice)

So, last week, Rowan and I went over to client-of-client's house to do those Halloween decorations we'd offered as an Everybody's Alice promotion. I was pretty stoked, because a Realtor had won the drawing and wanted us to decorate the front door of a house she had on the market -- absolutely ideal targeting for the services.

Except I was so friggin' nervous. There are *so* many folks far more creative than I, when it comes to decorating. I was worried about overspending and under-delivering. Worried isn't the word for it; I was beside myself.

When we got there, Client K said to please NOT decorate the front porch pillars, because she was having some rehab work done on them. (That was a blessing, because she had a sizable front porch and I don't think we had enough stuff for them anyway.) When we finished, I fretted about whether it was enough or dorky or whatever. OMG, did I fret. I'm pretty sure Rowan wanted to smack me. :)

Anyway, when Client K came out to see it, she *squeaked* with delight and HUGGED me! Rowan said, "Do you believe me now, that it looks great?" (grin) When I followed up with her yesterday, mentioning that she could either keep the decorations or call me to pack them up when the season was over, she said, "Please, could we keep them? We love them!"

So I figure that's good. :)

YAY RAH! (with pompoms and everything)

...I feel certain that I could come up with a need to hire Everybody's Alice. Brain too fried at the moment to think of an example... and I'm sure it's true.

I know, right? Also: Over on FB, there are 74 people who "like" Everybody's Alice, only 35 of whom are my personal FB friends. Go, viral marketing! I'm trying to keep the FB tone light and useful and engaging, without a heavy sales message. Because that's boring.

YAY!!! *Excited bounce!* (I know it looks odd... but sheep make me do the excited bounce too... so they work!)

I misread that as "sheep do the excited bounce too" at first, which just made me think of llamas pronking (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ll5EFaQHsy4).

That video has added a lot of llama-based joy to my life, which didn't until this second realize was missing. Thank you. :)

Good for you! Yes, it's scary but you plunged in and did it. And here's to more and more of these creative gigs.

Thank you. I really appreciate your perspective. I'm also now working with a Virtual Assistant agency, which will (hopefully) funnel some admin/writing work my way and provide the at-home flexibility we need at the same time. Fingers crossed for increased revenue soon!
