I just got an email from Rowan's choir group. The trip to DC has been cancelled, because there were not enough groups participating.

Crap crap crap. I've already spoken with Rowan, and we agree that this sucks.

So. It seems I will receive some percentage of monies in refund. If you were one of the kind people who donated to the cause already, please send me a message letting me know if you'd like your gift returned. I do not yet have details about how much or when, but want to make good on things for everyone.

Thank you,
N

Wait. If monies were donated and earmarked for the trip, why would they not all be available for refund? This does not affect me, so I'm not simply bitching. It just seems like so much creative financing to me.

And I understand that you have no clue at this point. :-)

Well, a certain dollar amount was the "deposit" and I have a nagging memory that it was non-refundable. I'm just not near any of my documentation right now to confirm that.

But the booster club president is a pretty together sort of person and the tour group has a good reputation (or at least that's what I was told), so I'm sure we'll get back what we're supposed to get back; she doesn't have more information yet, either.

Eh, I was just curious once I thought about it for more than a minute. :-)

Oh, disappointment! That's so sad! Poor Rowan.

As I recall thinking to myself, "I want to help them." I cannot recall if I actually followed up with that or not.

If I did, great! Consider it a gift and spend it appropriately.

If I didn't, I'm sorry I did not.

There were just a few folks who managed to help before the holidays. I'll double-check my records, but I'm fairly certain you'd mentioned wanting to do it after the first of the year. I'd planned to turn up the heat on fundraising this month.

You're good. :)
